Politologists Call On Irakli Okruashvili To Prove Scandalous Accusations

Appearance of Irakli Okruashvili, former defense Minister of Georgia, acting leader of the newly established party “Movement for United Georgia” filled Georgian politics with emotions. Against the background of his statements Georgian society is in anxious expectation. Okruashvili, whose statements were mainly full of incriminating evidences against the government officials, was not thinking if it was his time or not.

Politologists reckon that detention of Mikheil Kareli, former envoy of the president in Shida Kartli region and Dimitri Kitoshvili, parliamentary secretary of Georgian president precipitated appearance of Irakli Okruashvili and he appeared less prepared in front of the society. According to them, if Okruashvili does not prove his statements, his career will come to grief.

In conversation with the Prime-News political scientists Soso Tsintsadze and Levan Tsutskiridze adhered to the same position. They are skeptical about the new political force and emphasize argumentation of its statements.

According to Levan Tsutskiridze, society casts doubt on Okruashvili. According to him, this attitude is caused by Okruashvili's large-scale accusations of the government that are not reinforced with any corresponding documents or evidences.

"Society should not get used to listen only to accusations. Society should demand for facts and arguments," stated Tsutskiridze. He noted that Okruashvili was in the government for a long time and the society waits for more.

According to Soso Tsintsadze, Okruashvili, as the politician, lacked reliability during his speech. "His statements are beyond civilized forms which is inadmissible for modern strong politician," stated Tsintsadze.

"Okruashvili will never prove that Temur Alasania, uncle of Mikheil Saakashvili, president of Georgia, took a bribe, for which he detained him," noted Tsintsadze.

Tsintsadze also notes that comments of the parliamentary majority were also inadmissible, that were only such meaningless words as "ravings of an ill-mannered man", "story of threatened story-teller", "hysteria" etc.

Soso Tsintsadze also reckons that political culture in Georgia is on a very low level and Georgia needs generations to develop it.

Tsintsadze stated that the first statement by Irakli Okruashvili had not represented political platform and ideology. According to him, any new political force should elaborate constructive ways for improvement of social conditions in the country otherwise "the population is well aware that it is a social crisis in the country and there is no news in that," noted he.

Irakli Okruashvili, former Defense Minister of Georgia, officially announced about establishment of the new party "Movement for the United Georgia" on September 25. He openly opposed to Mikheil Saakashvili, president of Georgia. He accused the president and the government of corruption, ordering murders and terrorizing society and the church.

Presentation of the party was attended by Okruashvili's tem-members: Levan Nikoleishvili, Former Deputy Defense Minister of Georgia, MPs Koka Guntsadze, Gia Tsagareishvili, Teo Tlashadze, Keti Makharashvili, Gia Tortladze,David Koghuashvili, attorney Eka Beselia, journalists Natia Lazashvili and Nana Lejava.
